Default HTTP vs HTTPS for accessing this site

A suggestion to the mods/admin, set up the web server to take any traffic that comes in to a php-generated page to the non-encrypted http page and auto-refer it to the equivalent https page. This will improve security since users will log in using the encrypted page instead of the plaintext page. By limiting to the php-generated pages this shouldn't break things like old posts with inline images that were posted in via http.

It would not surprise me if the lack of default-https might be limiting the forum's usage since a lot of browsers warn when entering credentials like username/password on non-encrypted sites. Given how verticalscope has continued to annoy their forum users by pushing unwanted and unhelpful site redesigns that make the sites pretty but hard to use this seems like a time ripe to reclaim some users out of frustration with the competition, if the forums are configured to make users confident that they're safe to use.

I have the security certificate option, I just don’t know how to set it up. I know trucks, but not website stuff. Maybe Midnight Tech can help me out with it.

Not sure either, but when I do manually enter https for the URL it works that way.

I'll have to get the site in the shop and on a lift to see what has to be done to make this work.
And I must remain mum about VS and their actions.
