There wouldn't have been any point, other than for the sake of shooting things. They breed faster than anything (or one) can kill them. The best thing you can do is build cages around the plants in your yard that you care about. Or have a dog to chase them off.

That said I went to school with a kid who would shoot them with a paintball gun. He'd use a different color for each day of the week.

What, was he trying to give them a complex? So they would fight amongst each other? Doesn't seem that would do much good....

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

I think it was more so he could keep track of which ones he had already shot.

Default hood struts !

it has been rainy and cold here for weeks, finally got to 53 and sunny today.

i pulled 2 hatch struts from a hyundai tiburon in november and put them in the "to do" pile. these had threaded balls on each end, 12mm&13mm
.
i dug everything out today while the dogs were getting some sun. it took me just under an hour and i am very happy with the look and function.

i drilled a hole high on each hood hinge for the 12mm threads to go through, same location each hinge. this helps the strut to clear to the washer reservoir on the other end.
i used lock washers and nuts to secure these. the threads are too short to use nylon nuts.

the other end matched to the rectangle fender/hood stops midway down the fender
( close to the washer bottle on L side, and relay bank on R side)
and i was able to remove the stops and use the existing holes to bolt "L" brackets to secure the 13mm ends. used lock washers and nuts for the 13mm also.
these brackets i mounted like a 7, but were bent at 90 degrees. 1/4-20 bolts and nylon nuts for bracket to truck.

it will make underhood chores very easy with no prop rod in the way.
looks really cool too, and raises with one finger ! goes down just as easy.

Sounds great, you got any pics?

It was 85 degrees today, we went and watched the Cincinnati Reds lose to the SF Giants in a spring training baseball game. Seats were perfect and the beer was cold.

He was trying to start a "turf" war.

Still, that makes no sense to me and seems like quite the waste of time.

Did a little work on Hector Saturday. Pressure tested cooling system with no pressure loss, so doesn't look like I have a breached timing cover. However, I did smell the oil and it seems to have fuel in it. Now to track this issue down.
