Default 96 auto to manual swap

I have been doing research and been looking around. I have an automatic 1996 hardbody two wheel drive. I visited a a few junkyards and have found the 5 speed manual tranny in a few of them. I was curious if someone can give me a List of stuff i need to pull to convert my auto to a manual. From what i have found is i need the computer out of the manual, the clutch/brake booster, the tranny, the drive shaft( not too sure but i heard it was bigger then the automatics). The actual pedals( or go buy a set of pedals from a local parts store and just take the mount and all off from the clutch pedal at the junkyard). From there itll be mounting the parts and fabricating, Now does the automatic have like a pop out rivet where a stick should come out of the floor( Ive seen it on a few trucks) Will The computer plug and play? no cutting or splicing etc etc. If i do have to, can you give me an idea of what needs to be messed with. Just trying to get my bearings in order before i go down there and pull the parts i need and have to end up going back and forth.

I don’t have any specifics… but I’d recommend just buying the whole spare car until you’re done with it.

That was an idea but I can't come across any in my local area for any reasonably cheap.

Skip the ecm, the auto will work. I did this swap back in 2014 on my 91 and can give pointers.

So I would just basically need the tranny, a manual starter, the plate that goes between engine and tranny. The clutch and its mechanics (the booster and linkage and all). ?

Correct. You will want the clutch pedal and brake pedal assemblies. You will be tricking the ecm to start the engine by jumping the inhibtor relay. The driveshaft must also be swapped.

I did the auto to 5 speed swap on a 1995 4X4 with the V6. I don't know if the 4 cylinder is the same but on the V6 there's a steel adapter in the back of the crankshaft that has to come out in order to install the pilot bearing and your new manual transmission.

It doesn't come out easily either. I used a Dremel, chisel, drilling, heating and a bunch of cursing. It took me hours to get it out. I got all my swap-parts from the junkyard but I don't remember replacing the driveshaft but its been awhile since I did it.

The pilot bushing on the auto is a royal bitch. Had to pull one that was in my VG33.
