Had a local guy print this ashtray cup holder up. It ain’t the best but it will do in a pinch. I got a shifter extension & a new shift ball the end of last week.

Tapped new threads for the valve cover a few days ago with an M6 x 1.0 tap and they weren’t holding for some reason. Upon further investigation, I found that the OEM shoulder bolts weren’t reaching the threads in the cylinder head and were just spinning in place. The bolts measure from under the flange at full length are 20mm long. I went with stainless steel flange bolts at 25mm in total length and now that cover is fully locked down with a good squeeze from my Snap On 1/4” Dr. ratchet on the black rubber OEM gasket. So time will tell if it holds the oil in like it should and if the dissimilar metals become an issue at one point.

So I will put it all back together, as I unplugged the injector harnesses, air filter housing, air filter, support thingy and injector cables and move on to the next item up for repair…

They're also great for unsticking those two little coolant hoses way in the back that run underneath the intake manifold.

I most certainly do the same !

I know what common tools and techniques are needed for most of my truck’s needs. But somehow I must have hit my head really hard somewhere that I am unaware of, and then a “wrestling” match begins and continues until I just need to walk away to collect myself. But there have been times where the light bulb doesn’t light for me to “get it”. Most times it’s the Check Engine Light that turns on before some things actually happen.

So frustrating…

Life, I guess. Maybe brain damage.

Default Other updates - (while I am here on the boards)

This forum has been a life saver for me. But I got busy and for years I have just been using my truck and doing life. Wanted to give back and show some of the work I have done to mine with some comments

Heating and A/C

Replaced the ENTIRE cooling system (literally everything), and replaced the entire AC system (including the exchanger in the cab). While I was there I insulated the cab/sound proofed with rubberized flashing. As a result, you CANNOT run this truck on the hottest day you can imagine on max AC without needing a blanket. You also cannot run the HEAT wide open on the coldest day without an IV and a window down. Exactly the way I like it!

and

All the interior lights are now led. . .

and

I like to think this is my bad weather emergency truck so needed to upgrade the fog lights

and and

Oh. . .and entirely new front steering and suspension (moog)

and

Gave the back brakes some love. . .

and well. . new sneakers

Anyone notice the milage on the speedometer? (it's ok to hate me)

So much for the kid's college fund!

EDIT: Holy Jesus! Really only 77k miles?

I changed the fuel filter! That counts for something right?
