I just bought a bluetooth OBD reader for my 97 hardbody. Gonna plug her in this weekend. What are the differences in checking codes with the scanner? Plug in the scanner, turn on the ignition, start up the app on my phone and it should give me number codes I can reference off this post?

OBD2, what your truck has, did not start until 1996. The rest of us have to count the blinking lights.

Your reader should just tell you what the codes are, so you won't need this thread.

Hello, I have a 96' Nissan Pickup 4wd. I used this method to pull the codes as finding an Nissan ODB1 reader is apparently impossible. I have checked twice now (it has come on twice and I have reset once) and I am 100% sure the check engine is blinking out code 93. Which is not on the list. Has anyone encountered this code? Any insight?

Thanks,

Blaine

96 is OBD 2. Grab a Bluetooth reader off Amazon for $7.

CEL only activates for emissions faults.

Unfortunately, it looks like it was manufactured late 1995 and branded 96' it has ODB1 plug.

Ok, pull codes with the list guys on the ECM then. CEL will NOT blink out anything.
