I want to say that only the MAF and a bad O2 sensor will cause the Check Engine Light (CEL) to turn on. Both of those codes will also cause the engine to be in limp mode. Like Deerhurst pointed out, unplugging the MAF will allow the engine to idle, if the MAF is bad - you just won't be able to drive the truck because it the engine won't rev up.

Are you sure you got the codes right? 55 is for the All-Clear, but it could also mean you are looking at the selector for Mode 5.

There is a link in my signature below on checking error codes.

If you suspect the ECU is bad, search eBay for the number on yours to make sure you get one that works for your truck.

It should look like MECM-T110, or something similar.

It should come with a warranty, like 30 days. Plug it up as soon as you get it to make sure they don't sell you one that's bad.

I don't know. I've never seen that before.

If the ECU is bad, that might cause it. Bad ECUs never act the same way.

You can get an ECU for around 100 to 200, depending on the seller and how fast they want to make a sale.

The MAF usually goes bad because people don't clean them.

O2 sensors are supposed to be replaced every 60k miles, but owners rarely do it.
