Default Is 4x4 4cyl 5spd kind of rare now in these trucks?

Did they all rust away? Are most 4x4s the v6? Does anyone have the production numbers of what was built each year for combos of engine and drivetrain and body setup? Thank you in advance

I’m not sure on the production numbers but there are plenty of 4cyl 4x4 5 speeds out there. I suspect there are many more of them than of the V6....especially with a 5 speed. Or maybe that’s just how it seems to me. When I look around for trucks I’m always looking for the V6 4wd 5 speed. Very few of them show up. And 90% of the trucks out there are teal.

The hard to find model is the short bed short cab v6 5 speed 4x4.

Anything 96-97 will be the 4 cylinder as the V6 was not available

The 4 cyl is much more common than the v6 in general.

I honestly feel that the 4 cyl engine is better than the v6.

It has fewer bolts to loosen to remove it and replace it with a v-8.

There are no 4wd hb's in my area let alone v6 regular cabs. I had to build my own.

around here the v6 is dime a dozen. finding anything with the small block is hard. i do prefer the 4cyl for the timing chain but it also kinda sucks that it rattles. mine rattles on start up a wee and i just go *ok....sounds* i hate replacing timing belts on v-config engines.

There was a single cab, short box, 4cyl, 4x4, with rust in the rear frame for $850 on facebook marketplace near me, so that is why I was wondering. Around here it seems all the 4x4s have the v6. I have a 4cyl 2wd but was thinking I could swap the frontend stuff and trans/t-case/driveshafts/etc to convert mine to 4x4. BUT I need space to do that, which I don't have right now.
