Default 2002-2004 Steering column corrosion recall

Anyone here ever had an issue because they didn't do the 2002-2004 Steering column corrosion recall repair???Manufacturer Recall Number R1037
NHTSA Recall Number 10V-554
My own 2004 frontier is listed as being one of the "affected".

Or anyone have this recall repair done???

Service in Arizona told me today that he's never seen any corrosion there on any Frontiers in this area.

Pretty true. At least Phoenix temperatures have been down to 106F the last few days. Very little monsoon rain through whole state this summer.

Dealer called back yesterday; part has arrived. Said to allow up to 3 hours for truck at dealership, and dealership is about 35 minutes away, so essentially a complete half day, and I'd have to make an appointment. So ties up a full half-day.

They do have a local shuttle and should be able to take Mrs. Cusser to a movie theater during that time. I told dealer I would call back to arrange a service appointment, but may end up skipping having this done....

9 months later, plus Covid-19 restrictions: I took a look at my steering coupler and steering parts, not a hint of rust or corrosion on any of them. So I'm not jumping at getting this done...

I know this is an old post but I had the recall done on my 2002 some time ago. What they do is replace the coupling between the end of the steering shaft & the gearbox. I live in the rust belt & even though mine looked fine, I had it done anyway. Why not?
