Default 88 D21 SE VG30i Crankshaft Position Sensor

I am dealing with a crank no-start on my work pickup. I generally have luck doing my own research and replacing parts myself but am unable to fix my current problem. My diagnostic skills are not very advanced so the FSM info I've found has not helped much and I'm getting frustrated that my typical "firing of the parts cannon" approach has not worked yet. I figured I would try posting before breaking down and calling a mobile mechanic...

The vehicle died while idling in my driveway. It might have been running a bit rough/loud before this happened but not anything that alarmed me too much especially after noticing my rusted muffler had fallen halfway off.

I can pump fuel into a container and confirmed 10psi fuel pressure between the filter and throttle body.

I replaced the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil.
I am getting spark but it seems intermittent especially on certain cylinders...
I replaced the timing belt about 24,000 miles ago

I wanted to try replacing the crank angle sensor inside the distributor (Nissan 22100-16E01) before ripping the front end apart to look at the timing belt. I found a cheap one but no info on replacing it. Just three screws holding the sensor but it is under the optical trigger disk and I am nervous about taking that thing off...I've searched this forum and mostly seen responses stating that you cannot remove the sensor and just have to get a whole new dizzy. I am hoping that is only for the specific parts those members were asking about and my is not like that. Has anyone attempted this before or know if the disc can be taken on and off easily without throwing off the position of it?

10 PSI sounds really low.

Is it throwing a code for the wave plate?

Change your fuel filter.

You should have about 35 psi when the engine is running, and about 40 to 45 when just turned on.

You have to remove the distributor, remove the roll pin holding the gear to the shaft then slide the shaft out. Only then can you change the wave plate.

Joe, do you still have that VG30i distributor for sale?
