Default fender liner/splash liner material?

Im going to cut a fresh fender liner, the one that you remove for oil changes and always destroy.

any idea what material to make this out of? i was thinking some kinda synthetic leather or vynol? i want something that wont shrink up and pull all the clips out on with weather changes. also dont want something that will absorb water and cause rot/mildew.

When I had my 87 with the 3" body lift I made liners out of rubber Semi truck mud flaps.

I used 1/4" bolts installed from the engine side of the inner fender, long enough to put a nut on the bolt to hold it in place. Than I installed the rubber liner, and used a washer with another nut.

This way, when you had to remove the liner the bolts stayed in place. You could also instead of using the second nut, drill a small hole through the end of the bolt and use a quick release pin.

Worked good on my 87 and the rubber was much thicker than the OEM liner. Semi mud flaps are pretty easy to find also.

OP: Take a look at black EPDM sheet-roofing. Not cheap, but may be very close to the original material.

My recommendation would be pick-n-pull or an auto salvage yard of the like. Just wander around a few until you find a dece pair. I see them all over the place here in UT in nice condition.
