Moog used to be the best, but they have started outsourcing to cheaper manufacturers.
You generally can't go wrong if you can find parts that say that they are made in Japan.

By coincidence, saw a post of yours from 2016 saying you had zero problems with MOOG ball joints. How long did they last?

4-5 years at most. I replaced the 20 year old factory balljoints in my sons truck as preventative maintenance around 2015 I guess. I’ve never seen ball joints wear so badly that fast. I’ve usually replaced ball joints because of a torn boot or something of that nature. One of them was about to fall apart.

Here's a video. He's replacing old moog ball joints. With new moog ball joints. Quick steer moog stay away. I've seen them snap on Chevy trucks

Ended up ordering Mevotech Supreme ball joints and tie rods from Rockauto. The parts arrived yesterday and the upper ball joints clearly aren't mevotech supreme ones (different part number, black boot instead of blue and has no mevotech logo on the part itself), and one lower ball joint had a damaged thread (clearly was installed before). Contacted Rockauto to replace these parts, and they refuse to replace my upper ball joints since "they will fit" eventhough it clearly isnt the part that I ordered. So much for customer satisfaction...
Anyway, don't know if I had bad luck, but the mevotech supreme ball joints and tie rods don't appear to be that reliable (boot slightly out of place, rough finish, the box itself was torn, etc), let's hope that they work better than they look. From rockauto photos, noticed that Beck/arnley is selling reboxed japanese upper ball joints from "555 sankei". They're a bit expensive, but they're very good. If someone needs upper ball joints I recommend those. Checked out beck/arnley lower ball joint's photos on Rockauto but I'm not sure if those are from "555 sankei" or not. Also ordered 4WD lower arm bushings from Beck/arnley and they appear to be very close to the Nissan ones in terms of construction. The part number writen in the part itself is the original Nissan part number. Also "Made in Taiwan" like most Japanese parts nowadays. The official Nissan lower arm bushings are out of stock here in Japan, but beck/arnley ones cost the same, so it looks like they're selling reboxed original nissan bushings.

555 makes quality parts. Rockauto.com sucks bad sometimes. If they get it right the first time, which is 90% of the time, it is great. Otherwise, they suck.

I’ve had good luck with rockauto returns.
Consider contacting your credit card and get the charges reversed. You paid for premium, if they won’t refund or deliver the product your ordered then get it reversed. |

Contacted Rockauto several times but they kept sending me these robot-like messages saying the same thing. Entered in contact with Mevotech by e-mail directly and in fact Rockauto sent me the wrong ball joints. After sending a screenshot of that to Rockauto they said that I can return the parts, but they wont refund the shipping (both the original shipping and the return shipping). Ended up filing a claim through Paypal and it went through, will return the parts today, so lets hope that they refund both the parts and the shipping. Otherwise it will be a big loss for me, since the shipping is more expensive than the parts...
