Default 94 D21 4x4 with Power Steering. Center Link information Please !

I have a 1994 d21 4x4 with power steering.

My center link has the bracket for a steering damper, but I have no steering damper. I cannot say if this center link was replaced in the past or not.

I am curious to know if these center links were interchangeable for both options when sent out from the factory.

The reason I ask this question is because I am preparing to place an order for an outer tie rod. I have 2 options : With or Without OE steering damper.

Any help on this topic would be appreciated.

Thanks !

Welcome to the site.

IIRC, all factory center links had the brackets for a damper if the truck came with or without a damper.

Perfect Thank you !

Would you happen to know if a 4x4 power steering equipped truck came stock without a steering damper ?

Since we're on the topic, why different outer tie rods for a truck with or without a steering damper ?

Thanks again

I would image the 4WD trucks/Pathys that came with 31" tires probably had dampers. That's just a guess.

As for the TREs, it's probably because the damper was available on some models. IMO, TREs don't care about the damper.

I've contacted a dealership with the vin. The parts guy wasn't sure so they are going to look into which tie Rod end I need and get back to me.

With all of my research I have found that my truck with the ka24e had been mated to the good 71C trans. and built with the hg43 axles, I'm happy to know this

HG axles are only in V6 models up to 95. 96-97 4 cyl HBs have them as well. Door sticker will tell you all the good info.

Contrary to what has been out on forums for the past decade. My 94 Nissan d21 ka24e 4x4 has the hg43 differential package. Being a competent mechanica for the past 2 decades I was able to confirm this with a visual identification.

Front diff: r200a rear diff: h223b. 4.36 open gearing
Transmission: fs5w71c
Engine ka24e.
Straight steel skidplates
Last but not least factory rear drive shaft hoop !! Hahaha .. blow my mind

PICs? We like PICs.

You have an album here you can UL to... don't need to be "competent", LOL, just give some decent PICs... k? (hint: you need good light!)

Probably at least as bad as a Jeep so worse than a cow.

Someone had to swap the axles. R200s are only V6 models. All 4 cyls received the R180 regardless.
