Exclamation 1990 D21 purge valve delete?

Hello, I'm looking to see if I can delete this canister and if so what should I do with the vacuum lines.

I don't know a WHOLE lot about this subject, I will admit this. But I do know the fuel system is a pressurized system inside the tank. Some of these things depend on each other. For example, if you leave off your gas cap, eventually the engine will either stop running or miss badly. There is also the question asking you if want your CEL to keep coming on all the time. And if this happens, then you won't be able to spot a real problem because the CEL will be on constantly.

I don't know...I'm not much in favor of violating the Prime Directive, and that directive says that Nissan had to jump through a lot of hoops to pass stricter emissions standards in the USA, and a lot of that stuff you see under the hood is dependent on everything else working right. You start messing with the engineering, sometimes it works. And sometimes you end up with an Excedrin headache that never goes away. That's just my personal opinion on it.

I would like to hear from others who are more in the know about these things, these deletions. The only one I know that's generally safe is bypassing the EGR system. I hear many have done that successfully.

If you delete it, you are going to need to find a way to tell the ECU that the charcoal canister is still there and functional.

Yeah...that damn ECU...if it were in a prison, they would call it a snitch, or a rat. I can take apart a computer and replace anything inside it, and I can make programs work when I want to, etc. But I don't have the slightest idea how to play with an ECU. So I don't do that.

I wouldn't delete it. Did it in my truck and ended up putting it back. It takes fumes from the fuel tank and stores them. The vacuum valve releases those fumes into the engine to be burned. My fuel tank spat crap all over my engine bay without it.

Zip ties work well for that too. I have mucho zip ties holding my grill since the old plastic things are old and brittle.

Important to keep for safety (gas vapors)! And maybe for ECU since your truck is newer. If it's messed up, just clean out the valve and replace the vacuum hoses with new.
