No, it still looks like a VG30E lol which kinda makes me sad because I worked really hard on it and it still looks like it belongs. You have to pay close attention to the belt drive and rad hoses. Got a few things to figure out regarding the hoses as the lower is more or less flopping in the wind. the Harmonic balancer still needs swapped to the Xterra unit so I can run the 120 amp alt. and AC once I acquire the Xterra Compressor. If I find my camera, I'll post up some pics later.

Can you just use a 2wd vg30e pickup tube an pan? I just bought my first 2wd V6 d21 so when I rebuild I will compare with old pix. I sold the vg34 92 pathy I built.

It's not do able without doing a crank swap. In all reality I used alot of reference from your page. The VG30 pump drops on the driver side(relative to the truck, lhd of course) and all the VG33 oil pumps drop on the pass side. How I got around it is I cut the tray out of the 2wd pan and had my tube modified(in a manner I didn't like) you can either take and bend the VG30 pickup tube or cut, flip and splice the two in a way to flip the bend and make the tube (as seen from the front and above) curve to the right and down. I wish I would have had my camera for this part.

Basically a VG bored to 3.4l. Supposedly a good power gain with the bigger pistons. Some people use VG30 heads and others use VG33 heads.

Personally, I'd use 33 heads and 30 cams if could go back. the 0W0 heads flow better and the Vg30 cams are more aggressive.

So an oil pan and pickup tube swap is necessary to do this swap? The stock vg33 oil pan won't clear the cross member? I want to go from 2.4 to the 3litter.

The stock 3.3 pan will clear the truck it just won't clear the ground if your lowered at all. But, the 3.0 pan bolts right up. if you're doing a 3.0 swap a 3.3 wouldn't be much more work. I used the stock 3.0 2wd oil pan and modified the windage tray and pick up tube or you could swap in a 3.0 crank and oil pump, the only down side is that the oil filter is a pain to get to still where as if you retain the 3.3 pump the filter is moved to the front of the motor and super easy to get to.

I plan to convert my 2wd vg30 to front oil filter when I rebuild the vg30e. I plan to use a w/d22 pickup tube and v40 (1st gen quest) oil pump. And either the quest or w/d22 oil mount. I hope they fit.
