Make a 2 piece cardboard template that fits the shifter snugly like the carpet should. Then take the shifter out while you install the carpet so you can get it nice and flat around the shifter hole.

Itís pretty simple. Just disconnect the rods from it and remove the mounting screws. Then just clean with brake parts cleaner, lube, and reinstall.

Hard to tell if it’s timing chain or the hydraulic lash adjusters....sometimes called “lifters” generically. It is likely a combination of both.

If it is the timing chain it needs to be fixed...

I’m not aware of any manufacturer who is currently producing a hard cover for the hardbody. I believe you’ll have to find a used cover.

I usually place the jack just forward of the hanger and lift until I can get the jack stand under the flat part of the frame. That’s usually high enough for me, but mine isn’t a heavy duty

Sounds like the oil is leaking from elsewhere and running down a hose. Clean the mess up extremely well, then run it and check for leaks again to narrow down exactly where it is
