Starters for the D21, that is...selecting one...is a tricky thing. Here is my experience on that, although some folks have different opinions.

Try to avoid the China rebuilt starters. Often they are not really 'rebuilt' but just given enough work to make them turn over again. Most are starter cores shipped back to China from the US, and many of them are junk.

Buy one with a new pigtail already installed.
