Default Hardbody OBD2 Data Port

Hi, I have a 1995 Hardbody and noticed there were 2 data ports next to the fuse box. I believe these are OBD2, but I can't find any reference or mention of them anywhere on the internet. Has anyone else noticed this and know where I can get a scanner?

There will only be one OBD port. Neither of the ones in your photo are OBD.

You can get an ODB scanner from just about anywhere. I have a bluetooth one that communicates with my phone off amazon for about $7.

There is no ODB port on the 95. You can check codes as is described in this thread http://www.infamousnissan.com/forum/...ad.php?t=31527

No OBD2 port on a ‘95 model vehicle. Only 1996 or newer will have the OBDII port. I believe the 1995 and older model HB’s will use the 2 lights on the ECM under the passenger’s seat when the ECM is put into diagnostic mode. That’s how I read the codes on my 1989 HB King Cab with the Z24i engine. Love that engine! 8 spark plugs for a 4 banger and could chirp the rear wheels in 2nd gear.

Yeah, what you are looking at is likely the consult port. Nissan has a machine that can read it, but it costs more than your truck.

jp2code is right.

Neither one of those items in the picture was the OBDII port. It is a fixed connection, attached next to the fuse box, on the right hand side of the box. It does not move. It's also a little bigger than the ports shown. The larger connector in your picture is a 14-pin OBD-1 consult port.

You can find these 20 dollar hook-ins at eBay that supposedly plug into that consult port. The only thing they SAY they do is bring the flashing lights to you, so you don't have to take out the passenger seat. Say they only fit through 93 Nissan, though. No guarantees. They may have gotten it wrong though, saying they won't fit beyond a 93. If it is a 14-pin port, should hook in fine. Whether they actually DO what they SAY they do I could not tell you.

One here at eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/CODE-READER...97.m4902.l9144

I have NO idea if it works.

That consult port tool is junk. You still have to access the ecm to physically change the mode to code read mode.

You can make a blinky light box yourself for $10-20. At least then you don't have to pull the seat to get the codes out of the ECU. It's pretty simple, you need a momentary pushbutton switch (normally open) and two 12V LEDs.
