Default Repaint air filter cover 1988 SEV6 KC

I have this rusty looking filter cover, and I'd like to clean it up.

This is a VG30i 2wd KC. I've seen covers with paint, and I like that retro Nissan red white and blue style.

I lightly sanded the loose rust away, and gave it a coat of Ospho. Any pointers on a good plan for this project.

Here is RockInTheHill's cover.

Good looking stuff.

More sanding...if you have access to a sandblaster or wire wheel that would be ideal.

The image makes it look worse than it is. I could sand it more, but I don't want to get overly detailed. This project should be easy going, and on the fun side of things (that's the plan anyway.)

You think it's done? lol, I've barely started. The good cover belongs to another member; was just using it as an example.

See the silver label at 10 o'clock, anyone know what important info was on that sticker?

Same here, I just used some generic paint laying around no prep work just washed it and taped off the "Z24" and "electro-injection" sticker. came out good and lasted the entire year while it had the z24i...
