I may purchase a '97 HB with body damage. Is this damage repairable? I have not seen the truck in person. The seller claims that the frame is not damaged, but the inner fender looks damaged to me.

Depends on your skills. Lots of panels affected there. Inner fender is part of the cab weldment, so that will have to be reworked or replaced with a straight section from a donor truck. Radiator support will be mashed as well as the battery tray.
Hood, fender, grille, bezel, bumper, valance, trim. If you can JY the parts or pick up a parts truck, it's very do-able. It looks like the hit was NEXT to the frame, so there is a good chance that is OK. Look for buckling or disturbed paint on the frame where the upper control arm mounts. Visually compare to the driver side for reference.

I would ask pictures of the passenger door jamb at the back of the cab too.

I would start with pulling it, might be able to save the inner structure, but pretty sure your going to need at least the right side of the core supt.. maybe that upper rail where the fender sits..

My '94 was also damaged in the same location, the inner fender was pulled somewhat badly. I have not yet seen this particular '97. If the frame looks okay I can cut part of the inner fender and core support from another HB cab. I believe any cabs from the '90s should be a good donor.
Thanks for the input. Tim |
