If your timing chain isn't making a loud rattling noise, you don't need to worry about it. The timing chain seems to be pretty good as long as the timing chain guides and tension spring doesn't give out.

EDIT: Just check the ignition timing on yours for now.

I'll most likely be getting rid of the truck before she even hits 80k miles. Hopefully I can pull like $2500 out of her.

Alright guys. And I'll do exactly that Alabama. Hopefully it's as easy as turning the dizzy. When turning the distributor, which way advances and which way retards?

I don’t recall but you’ll be able to watch the flashing move as you rotate the distributor.

I just got a timing light at Harbor freight and it was about $12--19.00 and has the dial on the back to set advance with. Just make sure its on zero when you start out and like Alabama said , disconnect the throttle position sensor.
