steering is sloppy af, it sputters at high rpm, why is it a 4 spd, every time i look under the hood i find some hose or wire that looks like it should be plugged in somewhere. i think its got a 4wd brake booster, i would just like to go through it with somebody who can tell me what's what and what i need to know, without charging me by the hour.

Power steering or manual? Now that the newest of these trucks is 22 years old it could very well be a combination of old/worn out things instead of just one thing. I'd start with the usual suspects like the tie rod ends and the ball joints. There's also an adjusting screw on the steering box that can take some play out of the steering but I'd mess with that last.

Usually the sloppy steering is from worn center links, pitman arms, and idler arms.

Yes, It was driven from Monticello Arkansas to Tallahassee Florida, as is. Never topped 65mph though. lol, but 3 hrs is still a good stretch for me. I got a few buddies that are pretty Nissan Savvy, one says he's gonna try to get by within a few weeks, If something doesn't happen then, I may plan a trip to Bama. Dothan and Mobile are the only cities I know well enough to navigate, but Jackson cant be worse than Mobile, Right?
