The blower needs more fuel.

Still the plan. Hard to find the plenums. Blowers are easy to find but slightly expensive. Injectors are easy to find. The plenum between the heads and the blower seem to be unobtanium. Everyone pulls the blower and forgets the parts you actually need. There is a supercharged D22 down the road from me. Im very tempted to just knock on the door and make an offer. Once I find the plenum I will get a blower.

Supercharger Thoughts:
I'd like to drive a supercharged VG33 to see how much more power they have. I'm in an Xterra group, and owners say the supercharged Xterra still doesn't have as much power as the 4L in the 2nd generation X. My 2008 Xterra with 4wd gets better fuel mileage than my normally aspirated 2000 Xterra with 2wd. I wonder how much worse that fuel mileage gets with the supercharger.

USDM VG33er makes 210hp and 250ftlbs. USDM 4.0l makes around 270hp. The 4.0 is a much more advanced system. The VG33 is very basic in every way. No VVT, no crazy injector firing patterns, etc. Keep your foot put of it and it'll do OK. Just like my VG33i, put your foot in it and it'll suck down fuel. I get about 18MPG with TBI in a 4wd on 31s. Lost 2MPG from the window sticker going to bigger tires and a bigger motor. I'm hoping to make closer to 300ftlbs with headers, more aggressive cams and a proper tune. Where I currently am is a huge step up from the 145HP the VG30i made.

Injectors are installed, had trouble finding out why my priming sounded so weird and had my fuel hoses reversed, no wonder it was barely starting.
Got the fuel lines going in the correct spots now and the engine is still idling like crap doing its usual thing. What other parts would make the truck just dump out gas and barely even idle. List some more parts to throw into the canon ![]() |

Did you replace the o rings and the insulator bushings when you swapped injectors? I didn’t, and my truck slowly leaked gas into the cylinders until the engine oil was the consistency of water. Ran like absolute trash as well.

I will double check, but insulators seemed fine with no visible cracks or wear. I will do a double check on the engine oil, but it should be good. Slowly going over things again.

When I replaced mine, I didn't get the injectors all the way in, so they leaked.
I wound up letting the dealership put mine back together after I limped it to them.

There is a video on utube of a supercharged vg33 in a wd21 pathfinder. He starts goosing the throttle from idle to wide open over and over and it is lifting the front end off the ground and bouncing like an old school low rider. |
