Ordered new side marker housings. Both of them are cracked. I also had to order turn signal housings. The bulb sockets are corroded and one bulb is blown. Also had the windshield replaced wednesday. So add another 250 to making it road trip worthy.

Changed all the AC orings, replaced the drier then pulled a 45 minute vacuum. It took the first can and the compressor kicked on and then it stopped taking freon. The pressure equalized.....80 psi on both sides.
The compressor is toast. Ahhhh but i had a spare one. And it works. Pulled another vacuum and charged the system. 35 psi on the low, 200 on the high with a 75 degree ambient temp and it is blowing cold. It fogged the windows. It needs a little more freon, but every place is closed now. I will take care of that in the morning. Also changed the alternator and AC belts. The steering belt was changed last week. |

Installed the new turn signal housings with the clear lens. I noticed the ac was still dripping in the floor. When i reinstalled the evap box, I inadvertently pinched the drain hose. I gave it a tug from under the hood and the damn Thing popped off and promptly drained in the floor. So i went to the car wash to use the high powered vacuum. It will dry out in a few days.

Both corner markers finally got here.
It developed a stumbling when idling. It had a bee mud nest under the distributor cap. I assume they got in via the cap vent. I changed the cap and rotor and the idle issue went away. It also got two new tires today. Kendas. |

Just ordered the timing belt kit, front crank seal, thermostat, and gasket, new fan clutch and the thermostat/water neck. I would rather have that on hand and not need it instead of needing it and being stuck waiting for it to get here. I will use the new one no matter what.
I managed to get all those parts from the same rockauto warehouse, so shipping was only 9 bucks. I will get the camshaft seals from oreillys. I already have all the coolant hoses. I will be busy next weekend. Sounds like it had a couple of broken exhaust manifold bolts. It has that unmistakable exhaust leak click/tick noise on the passenger side. I figured it would be an eventual problem. Fuckin Nissan engineers. |
