Here are a few pics. It is strapped to a pallet in the truck bed. It was wrapped up, so i partially opened it to inspect. Then i completely covered it with a flatbed lumber tarp. There is also a picture of the vg33 crank adapter. That little jewel corrects for the larger vg33 crankshaft so i can run all the original external accessories with no alignment problems.

Got started on it yesterday. Since this is the original block, i decided to tear it apart a little so i do not have any issues pop up in tight spots.

I already had the front torn off. So I removed the intake and both heads. I gave everything else a good squirting with PB blaster. The passenger side manifold should come off easy. It was just replaced in October 2020. The driver side will be the bitch. I have the trusty propane torch on standby. The entire alternator/ac bracket is off the block. Still have to remove the steering pump and bracket. The engine harness is pulled back and is out of the way for the heart transplant.

I want to get the front diff out today, but right now it is in the mid 30s. I have from now to around 4pm before a lot of rain comes, then im stuck until next weekend.

Gotta order the oil pump, spark plugs and oil pan gasket this week. I already have a new flywheel, clutch kit, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, cap and rotor, wires, cam seals and the rear main.

I have the free use of a wrecker....one of the old ones that has the winch and boom. Im thinking about using that to pluck the engine out. That would be easier than a cherry picker in a gravel driveway. I did that with the lexus and it sucked.

Weather. Have to shut it down entirely. Wish I had a large heated garage with bells and whistles. On the flip side. Taking 3-5 months off is sure rejuvenating. I’m hoping for a transmission drop this may if finances line up.

I would be happy with a carport style cover. The news blew the weather forecast today. It has been cloudy and gloomy and windy all day. I should have plenty of sun next weekend. I can wait. Just sucks i can’t drive my truck because the engine is sitting in the bed under a tarp. Oh well.

You don't have to swap over oil pans btw. These idiots here said it was a must on 4x4 applications. Not true
