Default Stock muffler and tailpipe from Nissan dealer

I was able to order a stock muffler and tail pipe from my local Nissan dealer for my 87. It was only a few dollars more than the aftermarket and I figured it would be the best fit. Anyway, when I picked it up, the whole thing was painted gloss black. I've never seen this before- is this common?

I've seen OEM mufflers on the oem-surplus.com site that were painted all black.

they probably do that to prevent rust while they sit on a shelf some where.

Looks good, OEM fit and function, can't beat it !

Just under $230 with tax. The one at Napa was around $200 with tax. You got a good deal!

I'm thinking of stripping the paint off the rear part of the tailpipe. Not a fan of the black paint and want it to look as stock as possible.

I'm thinking it will burn off? Or maybe not since it's pretty far from the engine
