when I got my header for my engine it came in black also, the warning from Pacesetter said to strip the paint off as it was only there for shipping and shelving. so I just left it there and it has since then burned off and looks horrible. just letting you know what happened to mine.

I got the grinder out and cut off the part of my muffler still on the truck. I did it when all the neighbors weren't home to complain about sparks flying all over the parking lot. I did block most of them with a giant sheet of metal sheilding the gas tank. Hopefully I can just buy a new muffler and it will bolt on easy. I'll still have to replace the cat eventually but this will help at least.

I decided to do this today after offroading yesterday and getting tired of my exhaust kicking up all the dust.

I put a Walker 46922 muffler on my truck and it's a world of difference! So quiet. I love it!
I wiped it down with acetone and painted it with some high temp paint before putting it on. Hopefuly I never have to worry about it rusting out again.

The down side is now I can hear every single little tick and rattle coming from the engine. lol

My emmissions light is still on. I'll try resetting it, otherwise maybe a sensor went out.

If anyone here has ever had a new hardbody off the lot, I cant remember how mine looked. First thing I did was stick a chrome tip on it to dress it up a bit.

I'm still amazed at how quiet my truck is now with the added muffler. The emissions light finally went out on the dash too. Must have something to do with back pressure... It's going to take some time getting used to hearing the faint sounds coming from the engine and my speedo making some ticking sometimes.
The engine doesn't sound all that great in first gear but higher gears it runs so smooth and quiet.

I predict my gas mileage is going to be worse because now that I can't hear the RPMs really well I find myself running higher rpms before I finally shift and on the other side of things lugging the engine more often too at lower rpms not noticing/hearing when to shift.
It also feels like I am driving faster than usual too. Perhaps the noise/vibrations make it a smoother more relaxing drive where it feels like I'm going faster or maybe I am.
