I think I reversed the wires on my coil. Which coil is intake and which is for exhaust? I believe the coil closest to the grill is intake and closest to firewall is exhaust. Correct?

Yep. My 1989 has the "E" coil closest to the radiator and "I" coil towards the firewall.
