Question Max NA SOHC HP Ka24E?

I have a 97 D21 ka24e 5 speed
Right now its slugigish
I think its because of my clogged cat.
And the ex owner took out the fuel filter so from where the filter was supposed to be and after is all brown mud looking, i think there too dry rotted to remove to clean.
whats the reccomended NA upgrade route, and what can it manage without bottom end upgrades?
Hp/tq is 134/154
Im thinking doing exhaust, the injectors, 240sx intake manifold and get a higher flowing air filter.
Should i look for underdrive pulleys, what about electric fans?
Id like to do a head and cam depending if i can find what i want.
Any other ideas please shoot them my way
Also if yall know sites that sell any d21 parts please let me know also.

Check out Local Losers on YouTube. they have been building KA24Es with lots of horsepower. run through their videos and you will pick up alot of info on making power with these engines. and of course just search on here, there is plenty of knowledge. good luck!

My 2 cents worth.

Do a tune up.

Going to electric fans won't really gain you anything.

Make sure your fan clutch is functioning as designed.

The 240 intake makes more HP. This HP is produced up high in the rev range where most never drive. The 240 intake sacrifices torque which you want in a truck.

Cam can lively things up a little with supporting mods.

If you think the cat is clogged get yourself an infared thermometer. If the intake of the cat is hotter than the output of the cat it's not functioning.
