With the VG30 your primary concern will be the timing belt. When was it last replaced? Do they have any proof of when it was last replaced? If these answers aren’t known, it’s best to assume it is due a timing belt very soon. I wouldn’t say this is necessarily a bad thing anyway. It’s a great opportunity to do a lot of preventative maintenance while you’re at it. Plugs, wires, coolant hoses, belts. Get all that stuff while you’re in there and set yourself up to have fewer problems in the future.

My dad got well over 200k from the auto in his Xe-V6 hardbody. My nephew lost the auto in his 92 pathfinder only a week or two after he bought it with 1??k miles. They’re hit or miss.
