I haven't looked into this issue as I don't do long drives in the truck anymore. However, it is interesting. Another approach could be to put in a second tank and a transfer pump?

If the HB was removed improperly, it easily could be damaged. I'd expect the unbalance to be apparent at most RPMs, though.

What brand parts were used?

Was the oil and filter changed?

Also check your oil pressure when warm.

Interesting! If not a venting problem, next _guess_ is the fuel pump or sock. Before that (PITA job) I'd check out the wiring, grounds, etc. Be careful!

Obviously, replace the air filter, and with a quality one. Not sure if it would affect it, but do you also have the second air filter in the canister mounted low on the inner fender? That filter is...

So no change between before/after the new injectors?

It seems that the problem would be more evident under hard acceleration if fuel-flow was the cause, but did you change the fuel filter too?

Highway tires, and reduce weight are two ways to improve, retain MPG.

Of course, a great tune up, and replace the upstream O2 sensor if not already done.

5th is overdrive. May be quite a while until the next time I take the D21 on the highway, so can't say what my RPMs are at 70.

Have the gears in your differential(s) been changed?

No, don't! Install a Cat 3+ 2" receiver, like I and others did. :-)

But be safe -- check the total and tongue loads, and if electric brakes are needed.

Could just be wheel hop, if turning sharply and giving it the gas. If so, should be the rear wheel on the inside of the turn that's the source. Bad shocks or tires, and worn springs/bushing can...

The "cat-back" mufflers, via RockAuto, are good deals. I went with the Walker, and it is very stock-sounding. Go for the stainless steel version, and remember to buy the gaskets, etc. too.

Also check the upstream (front) side of the radiator, etc. for airflow restrictions.
And test the fan's hydrostatic clutch. Is the radiator's fan shroud missing?

Underneath, there...

Talking In-situ injector test, and the fix

Angry COVID-19 strikes ... the KA24E

The D21 has been on reserve-duty for years now, to carry loads, etc., so it didn't get driven much. I'd drive it daily for a couple of weeks, though, twice a year to burn up/replace the tank of gas...
